Allison Barritt

Classroom Teacher (3R)

I have been working at ICS over the last few years as a casual teacher and teacher's aide. Before that I was teaching dancing, working in kids' ministry and raising my three children. I previously worked at a public school in Campbelltown and also for the Department of Education. I'm excited to be teaching at ICS and really appreciate being part of a caring, Christian community.

When I'm not working I enjoy bike riding, kayaking, wakeboarding, dancing, bushwalking, reading and spending time at the beach with family and friends.

Christy Dallimore

Classroom Teacher (3G)

I have worked at ICS over the past three years in different roles - teacher aide, learning support teacher, and casual teacher. This year I am stepping back into the role of being a full-time class teacher. Prior to ICS, I was working in learning support at Nowra Christian School.

What attracted me most to working at ICS was the Christian character of the school so clearly evident in the students and the staff.

The thing I love most about teaching is witnessing the continual growth in my students' learning and being proud of their achievements. When I'm not working I love spending time with family and friends, enjoying a strong cup of tea whilst reading a good book, going for walks and watching movies.

An interesting tidbit about me is that I grew up in a small suburb called Maurewa in New Zealand. My favourite kiwi things are the national anthem, the All Blacks and feijoas.

Brianne Eastman

Learning Support Teacher

What were you doing before taking on this role?

I was a casual teacher at ICS, and before that I had my own business that ran school readiness and tutoring programs.

What is it about ICS that attracted you to the job here?

The school community at ICS is very special. Being able to work in a place that points to God in all things is truly a blessing.

What do you love most about teaching?

I love seeing growth in my students - when they have that lightbulb moment after trying so hard to understand a concept. I also love educating the whole person and being able to show God's love and grace to students in a practical way.

When you're not working, what's something you really love to do?

I love to hang out with my family, read and watch TV.

Learning Support

For the last 15 years, I have been working for a sign-making business in the areas of design, manufacture and installation. Throughout those years I have also been involved in a small tutoring business with my wife Brianne.

I am currently completing my Bachelor of Education to be a high school teacher, and am excited by the opportunity to work with, and learn from, some of the best teachers around in a supportive Christian environment.

When I'm not working, I love relaxing with my wife Brianne and daughter Ellie, and am an avid gamer in my spare time.

Mathematics

I have come from working at Calderwood Christian School as a Teacher's Aide to teach Maths here at ICS.

I'm really looking forward to being part of the ICS community and helping students grow in their mathematical thinking. Outside of work, I enjoy surfing, leading youth group, doing cryptic crosswords, making things, and spending time with friends and family.

Where have you come from?

I was on maternity leave from my previous role as a director at a long day care centre in Kirrawee, where I had been for 12.5 years!

What is it about ICS that attracted you to the job here?

The location and opportunity to work within a Christian team, and the holidays!

What's something you really enjoy about your job?

I love seeing the joy on a child's face when they achieve something new, and the funny things I overheard throughout the day!

When you're not working, what's something you really love to do?

I love cooking, being creative, hanging out with my family.

Emma Newby

Strings Tutor

Two years ago, I moved to Wollongong from Dubbo to study psychology full time at the University of Wollongong and have been doing that ever since.

I really loved seeing and hearing about the community of staff at ICS and how caring and encouraging they were to each other and to their students. I wanted to be a part of a work environment like that.

I love seeing when kids love what they are learning and they get excited when they improve and grow in their knowledge and skills. Seeing that excitement brings me a lot of joy.

When I'm not working, I really love cooking or baking while singing along to some music. I'm new to the structured school environment - I was homeschooled from Year 1 to Year 12!

Learning Support

Before coming to ICS I was a learning support teacher in a local department of education school. Previous to this I have also spent time teaching music in independent schools. I was attracted to working at ICS because I can freely talk about Jesus and how he works in my life.

I love helping students access education and enjoy their learning, wherever their interest or ability lies. Outside of school I am blessed with a supportive husband and three growing kids! They keep me active through many ocean-related activities. As a family we love getting involved in any community we come into contact with and making Jesus known.

I'm showing my age ... there are some colleagues introducing themselves as new staff who I actually taught when they were just starting school!

Liam Vermeer

Biblical Studies, History, Social Science, Year 9 Pastoral Care Coordinator

Most recently, I've been working at Broughton Anglican College, teaching HSIE. I was interested in this role at ICS because I see it as an awesome opportunity to teach amazing subjects and pastorally care for young people in my local community.

I love that every day I get to chat with young people about really interesting things that have happened throughout history and help them to appreciate the amazing world that God has made.

When I'm not on the clock, I love to play sport, watch my favourite football team, Arsenal, and also watch lots of movies. I love to go to the beach with my wife and daughter and spend time in the surf.

Sarah Wilde

I am really excited to be starting at ICS this year! I am particularly looking forward to meeting the students at ICS and taking the time to build strong relationships with them. I am also looking forward to sharing my knowledge of different cultures with my students to help them appreciate the unique gifts and differences all cultures have been blessed with.

My favourite things to do in my spare time include rock climbing, bushwalking and spending time with my family.
