Resources to help you prepare for starting in 2022
Orientation

We’re excited your child is joining us for Kindergarten 2022! On this page, we’ve gathered a wealth of resources to help you and your child get ready for this important transition.

We know starting school can feel overwhelming—but we’re here to help! On this page you’ll find plenty of information about everyday school life, as well as videos on what to expect as you join our school.

There’s a virtual tour of a day in Kindergarten, information on how to get involved as a school parent, and lots that you can do at home to help your child prepare for their big first day as well as settle in to Kindergarten well.

We encourage you to check back here regularly and use the page to help your child and your whole family prepare to start school.

See you soon!

A bit about me

I grew up in St Georges Basin which is just a bit south of here, near Nowra. I did an Early childhood degree at Macquarie University and then worked in long day care for a while. I moved to the country about eighteen years ago and had a tree change working in a few different Christian Schools. I moved back to the South Coast last year to work at ICS which I love and to be closer to my three amazing nephews. I have one nephew who is in highschool, one who is starting Kindergarten next year and a brand new nephew who is just four weeks old.

My favourite things to do

Some of my favourite things to do are going to the beach and relaxing with a good book. I also love paddleboarding and often paddle board with my dog Holly. Before lockdown I enjoyed travelling the world and have visited many countries in Asia and the South Pacific. I enjoy learning about different cultures and love trying to learn a few words from the different languages.

Why I love teaching Kindergarten

I love teaching Kindergarten because I feel little children give us a whole new way of seeing the world. Teaching them new things and seeing them wonder about the world around them is such a delight. I also enjoy seeing students develop positive habits for learning and helping them to settle into school. In Kindergarten you get to help them establish good routines for the rest of their schooling journey. They also make so much progress in just one year of schooling. I also love teaching such little children about our amazing God and explaining the truths from the bible in a way that they can understand.

See you soon!

A bit about me

My students often call me Mrs H! I have been teaching at ICS for 12 years across K-2.

My husband is Dan, and we have three children – Mitchell, Lucy, and Caleb. This year we welcomed a new addition - our fur baby Millie (a cavoodle). We attend Figtree Anglican Church.

My favourite things to do

Free time or holidays often involves camping in our caravan, reading books, and gathering with friends.

Why I love teaching Kindergarten

Learning is a lifelong skill. It is a privilege to share the journey with my students and their families. I love being a Kindergarten teacher in a Christian school because everything we do points to Jesus.

I look forward to meeting you soon!
