Simon joined the staff team at Illawarra Christian School in 1999 and was appointed as Principal in 2008. He has a Bachelor of Secondary Education (Humanities and Social Sciences) from the University of Sydney and a Graduate Diploma in Bible and Ministry from Sydney Missionary and Bible College.
Simon is married to Sarah, and they have six children. He values the partnership his family enjoys with Illawarra Christian School through his children’s education. Simon is an elder at Wollongong Baptist Church. As chairperson of the CEN Hub Board and member of the CEN NSW/ACT State Council, Simon plays an active role in the wider Christian education community.
Passionate about equipping staff and students with a faithful, Christ-centred worldview that informs all of life, Simon is excited to be leading a community of Christian educators, parents and students who learn and grow together under God’s grace.

Jo has been teaching at Illawarra Christian School since 2003. Prior to her appointment as Prep–12 Deputy, she served in a number of infants/primary leadership roles.
Jo graduated from the University of Wollongong with a Bachelor of Creative Arts, Bachelor of Laws and Graduate Diploma in Education. She has recently completed her Master of Educational Leadership through the National Institute for Christian Education.
With her husband, Brett, and her two daughters (both of whom attend Illawarra Christian School), Jo is a member of Harbour Church, Shellharbour, where she is Music Ministry Coordinator. She particularly enjoys writing songs for the congregation and also values her weekly growth group.
Jo is enthusiastic about considering leadership from a biblical perspective and is keen to contribute to developing future leaders in Christian schools. She is also excited about building a positive school culture and community that reflects God and his purposes at Illawarra Christian School.

Meg joined the staff team at Illawarra Christian School in 2012 and loves being part of the History faculty. She graduated from the University of Wollongong with a Bachelor of Arts, and a Graduate Diploma in Education. Before going into teaching, Meg was employed as the Magnification Pastor at Figtree Anglican Church. She then taught at Tyndale Christian School and Northern Beaches Christian School in Sydney before returning to Wollongong. During her time as a stay-at-home mum, Meg completed her Graduate Diploma of Theology. In 2016 she began a Master of Educational Leadership through the University of New South Wales and graduated in 2018.
Meg is married to Tony and they have three daughters who attend Illawarra Christian School. They attend Figtree Anglican Church. In her leadership role, Meg oversees our Secondary Pastoral Care program and is responsible for leading the Secondary staff in curriculum and co-curricular activities. Meg really values the partnership with school families at ICS and is passionate about students having a fantastic school experience, both inside and outside the classroom.

Andrew joins Illawarra Christian School in 2021 as the Director of Teaching and Learning. Andrew initially studied Ceramic Engineering at UNSW but was convicted of the need to make a difference in the lives of young people as a Christian teacher. He has completed a Diploma of Bible and Mission from Moore Theological College, Graduate Diploma of Education from the Wesley Institute and Masters in Educational Leadership from UOW.
Having previously taught in schools in the independent sector, Andrew has grown to love holistic education - the development of the entire student. He is passionate about developing students of faith and character and building strong learning communities in collaboration with the staff.
Andrew is joined at the school by his wife, Karina, and three children. They attend St Mark’s Anglican Church, West Wollongong, where Andrew enjoys being involved in the music ministry and building men of faith through his leadership of a small group.
Andrew is looking forward to working with the teachers, students and parents of the school community and fostering strong partnerships in the development of our students.

Simone began teaching at Illawarra Christian School in 2001 after several years of experience in Queensland schools. She has taught K–6 classes and currently teaches Japanese in both the primary and secondary school. Simone heads up our Enrichment team and thrives on coaching students through varying academic opportunities throughout the year. Initially, Simone was appointed to a primary leadership position, before commencing her role as Director of Student Learning Opportunities, K-12, in 2017.
Simone is married to Trevor and has four children, three of whom attend Illawarra Christian School and one who recently graduated. She is a member of St Mark’s Anglican Church, West Wollongong, and enjoys her involvement in music and children’s ministries.
In order to determine and facilitate effective learning paths for individuals, Simone monitors student ability and achievement. Her role also involves oversight of the school’s enrichment and learning support programs. Simone is dedicated to identifying the individual passions, gifts and needs of students and to providing opportunities that enrich student learning outcomes. She is energised by innovations in education and is excited about tailoring learning to meet student needs both now and into the future.
Rob joined the team at Illawarra Christian School in July 2019. He previously enjoyed a career in capital markets, private health insurance and, more recently, executive roles in software design and development, and business and systems development in early childhood education. Rob was keen to use his skills and experience in a non-profit Christian setting. The Business Manager role with Illawarra Christian Education came as a great blessing and reminder to Rob that God is always at work in his life.
Together with his wife Margaret and two adult children, the Thomas family are active members of St Michael’s Anglican Church in Wollongong. All are involved in various ministries within the church. Rob and his wife co-lead a young adults’ mid-week Bible study. Rob also serves as Treasurer on the Wollongong Combined Churches Education Board which funds and supports high school scripture in five central Wollongong state high schools.
Rob is passionate about good business process and practice, and partnering with people to achieve outcomes that benefit the school, our students and the wider school community.
